The introduction of Scheduled Actions marks a significant enhancement for Google Gemini users, allowing automation of tasks like daily summaries. This feature is currently available exclusively to Gemini AI Pro and Ultra subscribers on the Android platform. As it stands, users can create up to 10 active schedules, which are linked to the location of their creation.
Scheduled Actions have the potential to transform how users manage their time and tasks. With this feature, Gemini can remind users about key calendar events, important emails, and assigned tasks—when scheduled. While the rollout for this feature has begun, it is crucial to note that it is only accessible for those who have subscribed to the paid plans.
Originally hinted at a few weeks ago, this new function could be beneficial for activities like morning check-ins or brainstorming weekly blog ideas. Setting up a Scheduled Action is straightforward. Users just need to provide Gemini with a prompt, such as “Summarize my unread emails every morning at 7 am.” After confirming the setup, users can view and manage their scheduled items from their profile picture within the Gemini app, where a dedicated “Scheduled actions” page is now available.
However, there are some limitations. Users can only have a maximum of 10 active Scheduled Actions simultaneously, and any location-triggered actions will default to the original location of the schedule’s creation. Furthermore, this feature is limited to Gemini AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, leaving potential access for free users uncertain.
In essence, while Scheduled Actions offer an evolution of Google’s assistant capabilities, they come at a cost, making Gemini a paid service for those seeking a more functional experience.
