Gboard, often thought of as a lesser-known member of Google’s suite, is actually a key player, continuously receiving updates. Recent findings from a beta build suggest that Google aims to enhance Gboard even further. While the Pixel 10 is not set to launch until August, it seems that one of its significant features may be introduced in this latest Gboard update.
Known as Pixel Sense or Magic Cue, this feature allows your phone to autonomously search for information, such as reservation numbers. For instance, if someone asks you for a reservation number, Pixel Sense can scan your Gmail for any relevant information without you having to make a specific request. This functionality is intended to work similarly to how some features automatically copy one-time passwords from messages into your clipboard.
At this point, it’s unclear whether Pixel Sense will be exclusive to the Pixel 10 and other compatible devices or if it will be accessible on other Android devices via Gboard. However, there are additional improvements on the horizon. The teardown also reveals a feature allowing users to favorite their Emoji Kitchen creations, a functionality that many feel should have been implemented from the start, as it enhances the usability of custom emojis.
Moreover, there’s mention of a “SmartEdit” feature that may refine the existing voice-to-text editing capabilities. New animations for the AI-driven Writing Tools and potentially some tweaks to the Smart Reply feature are also in the mix. While these changes may not be groundbreaking, they show Google’s commitment to keeping Gboard among the top keyboard applications for Android.
