Google Photos May Enhance Features to Assist Users in Organizing Their Media Collections Effectively.

Before starting this article, I took a moment to check the storage information on my phone. I have to admit, I am a certified media hoarder. Currently, my phone’s gallery contains over 25,000 items.

Many of these are likely duplicates, downloaded memes, images and videos sent by friends, and countless screenshots that have lost their relevance. For individuals like me, Google Photos offers a useful solution through its **Manage Storage** section. This feature allows users to review and delete large photos and videos, blurry images, and unnecessary screenshots.

It even helps to identify media from other apps that also consume valuable storage space. Recently, there are indications that Google is enhancing this feature to make it even more user-friendly. According to reports, the app is working on a function that would proactively suggest photos for deletion.

This capability was observed in the code of the latest version, which hints at Google Photos potentially recommending photos to remove after the user has already selected and deleted several images. The feature is still in early development, and the code suggests that “Delete suggestions” will trigger as soon as you delete a specific number of photos. It appears that the app will notify users about photos it believes should be deleted while allowing them to review each suggestion before confirming any deletions.

Furthermore, if someone mistakenly deletes images, Google Photos will enable recovery from the Trash folder. Lastly, it is important to note that the code does not indicate this feature will apply to video content. Although it’s anticipated that this functionality may use AI capabilities, details remain unclear at this stage, and it appears to not be ready for public rollout yet.
