Nothing, the phone brand founded by Carl Pei, is set to launch its flagship Phone 3 shortly. This release marks a significant milestone as it will be available in the US for the first time, including on platforms like Amazon. However, the launch is generating some debate due to notable changes in design choices for the Nothing Phone 3. Leaks indicate a departure from the previous model, the Phone 2, as the company has confirmed the elimination of the popular Glyph Interface.
Its replacement is known as the Glyph Matrix, which introduces some intriguing functionalities. A highlight of the new design is the Glyph Mirror, a tool that allows users to utilize the dot matrix LED display on the back of the phone to take selfies using the rear cameras. By accessing the feature on Nothing’s UK website, users can experiment with this tool by snapping photos and adjusting the contrast to improve visibility. The result showcases a unique representation of the user, which can enhance the experience of framing shots with the rear cameras.
The new circular display will be located in the upper right corner of the Phone 3’s back panel, signaling a significant design shift from previous models that relied heavily on the Glyph lights. Previously, the phone series, including Phone 1, 2, and various iterations, featured consistent designs with Glyph lights. Expectations for the Phone 3 include a robust 5,150mAh battery with rapid 65W charging and a capable processor, though it may not be the highest-end chipset available. The anticipated release price is around $800, with more details expected to emerge when the official announcement takes place on July 1st.
