Samsung introduced the Now Brief feature with One UI 7 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, aiming to offer tailored content that adapts to users’ schedules and weather conditions. However, reality has fallen short of expectations, with Now Brief primarily providing limited weather forecasts and seemingly random news stories. This is not what Samsung intended, and the company has acknowledged this issue, taking steps to enhance the capabilities of Now Brief since its initial launch.
Recent developments suggest that improvements are on the way. APK teardowns have unveiled plans for new functionalities, including package delivery updates linked to Now Brief through Samsung Messages. This integration could keep users informed about expected arrival times for packages.
Additionally, there are indications that Soon, users may also receive smart home alerts and parking spot reminders via Now Brief. Despite these positive strides, many users, including myself, have found Now Brief frustrating in its current state, delivering largely irrelevant information. The functionality seen in Samsung’s Now Bar, such as turn-by-turn navigation in Google Maps, had sparked hope for improvements within Now Brief.
If the new features come to fruition, they could bring the service closer to Samsung’s intended vision, offering a centralized hub for personalized information encompassing calendars, weather, and emails. Package tracking would enhance the experience by providing timely alerts, especially for deliveries that require signatures. If Now Brief could passively remember users’ parking spots, it would add another layer of utility.
I remain optimistic about the future of Now Brief, particularly as Galaxy AI continues to evolve. Currently, it feels more like a conventional widget than an intelligent assistant. However, with Samsung’s ongoing efforts, there’s potential for meaningful improvements, unlike some past experiences with other tech companies that have quickly sidelined unsuccessful features.
