Samsung and Google, while competitors in the premium smartphone market, maintain a collaborative relationship. This partnership often sees Google leveraging Samsung’s flagship devices to unveil new features for Android and its Gemini AI. Following the release of the Galaxy S25 series earlier this year, Google introduced a range of Gemini features that were initially exclusive to Samsung’s new models. This approach continues with the recent Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, where Google announced various enhancements to the Gemini AI.
One notable feature available on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is Gemini Live’s screen-sharing capability. Users can utilize this feature on either the outer or inner screen, enabling them to pose contextual questions to the AI chatbot. Google emphasizes that this functionality allows users to seek second opinions on products while shopping online, enhancing their decision-making process. On the Z Flip 7, another innovative use of Gemini Live is the camera sharing feature, which can be activated directly from the cover display.
This allows users to receive quick answers from Gemini without having to open the phone, streamlining the experience. However, neither company has provided information on whether this feature will be extended to the Z Flip 6 or older models. At the Galaxy S25 series launch in January 2025, Google also integrated Gemini capabilities into several Samsung apps. This integration has now expanded to Gemini Live, allowing users to issue voice commands to create new calendar events or reminders within Samsung Calendar and Samsung Reminder.
For instance, users can focus Gemini Live on an event poster and ask it to create a corresponding calendar entry, even inquiring about their availability on a specific date. This Gemini Live integration, which is already functional with Google apps like Calendar and Maps, will soon be available for compatible Samsung devices, offering users more options and efficiency in managing their tasks.
