Google Translate is currently undergoing significant enhancements, particularly in its underrated Conversation mode. These changes come as the platform prepares to introduce exciting new AI-powered features such as Insights, Ask a Question, and Practice.
Recent insights from AssembleDebug at Android Authority have revealed a sneak peek at what users can expect in version 9.13.97, particularly with an emphasis on Gemini, Google’s in-house AI. The standout feature of this update is a complete visual redesign.
The previously utilitarian interface has been transformed into a more polished and visually appealing layout. Users will notice a prominent “Built with ✦Gemini” label at the top of the Conversation screen, reflecting Google’s increasing reliance on AI technology.
There’s also a disclaimer at the bottom to remind users that generative AI can still make mistakes, serving as a fair warning. Beyond aesthetics, the new user interface offers smarter and more interactive functionalities.
One of the notable changes is the addition of language suggestion chips, which enable users to easily switch the second speaker’s language. This adaptive feature is poised to enhance user experience by aligning with their regional or recent usage patterns.
Another upgrade includes a new auto-playback button now conveniently accessible, moving away from the settings menu for better usability. However, the manual mode toggle has been relocated deeper within the settings, requiring more taps for those who prefer the traditional two-microphone setup.
Meanwhile, the manual mode itself retains its presence, featuring a cleaner interface that promotes clarity during conversations. Additionally, face-to-face mode, which facilitates seamless conversations on a single device, has also been refined with the Gemini branding and improved design elements.
These updates signify Google’s intent to integrate Gemini more deeply into Translate, ultimately making the app more intelligent and user-friendly.
