Google’s AI Now Handles Business Calls for You When You’re Too Busy.

At the start of 2025, Google introduced an innovative feature called “Ask for me,” aimed at making everyday tasks more convenient for users. This feature, powered by AI, allows the technology to call businesses on behalf of users, inquiring about price quotes, service availability, and scheduling, all while utilizing a natural-sounding voice. Initially available only to a limited group of users willing to opt-in, the feature has now expanded and is being rolled out to all Search users across the United States. Though it appears under the label ‘Have AI check pricing,’ it’s worth noting that this term may not accurately reflect the full range of capabilities the tool offers.

Beyond checking prices, the feature can also book appointments, check restaurant wait times, and confirm service availability across various sectors. In its early days, “Ask for me” primarily focused on nail salons and auto repair shops. However, Google’s latest announcement indicates that the tool has now broadened its reach, incorporating services related to restaurants, pet grooming, and dry cleaning. When users search for these services, a “Have AI check pricing” button featuring the Gemini logo will become prominent.

By clicking this button, users will be prompted to provide specific details such as the type and breed of their pet, required services, and their location. Once the AI completes the calls, users will receive follow-up communication via email or SMS containing relevant information about local businesses and insights from the automated calls. It’s important to mention that businesses can opt-out of receiving these automated calls by adjusting their Business Profile settings. Google has indicated that there will be limits on how often users can utilize this feature, especially for free accounts, which may face daily caps.

However, subscribers to higher-tier plans may enjoy increased usage limits.
