Google’s Nest Aware subscription plans are experiencing notable price increases, as confirmed by various sources, including Android Police founder Artem Russakovskii. Effective immediately for new sign-ups, both the Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus plans will see significant hikes in their costs.
Nest Aware is a subscription service designed for Google’s Nest devices, providing features like extended video history for cameras and sound detection for smart speakers and displays. The monthly fee for the basic Nest Aware subscription is rising from $8 to $10, while the more comprehensive Nest Aware Plus will see its monthly rate jump from $15 to $20.
Annual plan prices are also experiencing increases, with Nest Aware Plus facing the steepest rise; its prices for both monthly and annual subscriptions are climbing by a third. The standard Nest Aware plan, which offers 30 days of event video history without 24/7 coverage, will increase by 25 percent.
These price adjustments come without any accompanying enhancements or new features, which may frustrate existing customers. Without a Nest Aware subscription, users are limited to basic functionalities offered by Nest cameras.
Free users can only view live streams and access event videos for up to three hours after they are recorded. This limitation means that to avail of more comprehensive surveillance capabilities, a subscription is almost essential.
While new subscription rates are effective immediately, current subscribers have some breathing room. They will be subject to the new prices starting with their first payment due on or after August 15.
