The Galaxy S25 series has been on the market for six months, and with the recent unveiling of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, attention is shifting to Samsung’s next flagship: the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Early leaks suggest that this upcoming model will be slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Additionally, recent rumors indicate that the S26 Ultra will feature a larger screen, despite its reduced size. The current Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts a 6.86-inch display, slightly larger than the 6.82-inch screen of the S24 Ultra.
This increase was achieved mainly by minimizing bezels rather than expanding the phone’s overall dimensions. It seems that Samsung plans to follow the same design strategy for the S26 Ultra, with leaked information from @UniverseIce suggesting that the device will have a 6.89-inch display.
To accommodate this larger screen while maintaining the same device size, Samsung may need to further reduce the bezels from the existing 1.2mm to approximately 1.15mm. Samsung markets the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s display as 6.9 inches, and it is likely that they will similarly promote the S26 Ultra’s screen size.
Additionally, rumors suggest that Apple is also planning to reduce the bezels on the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro lineup to under 1.2mm. Both companies are expected to utilize new display technologies that will enhance slimness and brightness without increasing power consumption.
While the larger display might present challenges for one-handed use, especially given the size of the S25 Ultra, it is hoped that the rounded corners and lighter frame of the S26 Ultra will alleviate some of these difficulties. However, despite its popularity, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has not fully addressed several critical shortcomings, particularly in the camera and battery life arenas.
Initial leaks suggest that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may not resolve these issues either, as Samsung seems to be concentrating on reducing device weight and size instead of enhancing core functionalities.
