The latest feature focuses on meeting the needs of creators. YouTube has rolled out a new tool enabling creators to test and evaluate different video titles, a crucial aspect of the video publishing process.

While this update may not seem revolutionary, its implications could significantly affect creators across the platform. The new “Test & compare” feature, as announced on YouTube’s Help page, allows creators to experiment with various video titles in a manner akin to how they currently test video thumbnails.

YouTube already permits creators to upload multiple thumbnails to determine which generates more clicks. Following a similar approach, the new tool will enable creators to add a limited number of titles for each video and assess their performance over several days.

For creators, the platform will display different versions of video titles to various audiences, making it possible for viewers to encounter distinct titles for the same video. However, this feature’s widespread impact may be limited initially, as Google is rolling it out to only a small percentage of creators at first.

Creators have long requested the ability to test different video titles alongside thumbnails. While thumbnail testing was introduced in 2023 after a period of refinement, the rollout of the video title testing feature follows a similar phased approach—starting with a select group of creators before gradually expanding to a broader audience.
