Nintendo Switch Online Announces Another Intriguing Playtest Event for Gamers to Join

Nintendo is gearing up for another Playtest Program for subscribers of Nintendo Switch Online, set to begin later this month. This follows a similar event from October 2024, which hinted at a new multiplayer game experience, though Nintendo has not confirmed details publicly. The upcoming Playtest Program will take place from 9 p.m.

ET on July 28 until 8:59 p.m. ET on August 10. To participate, North American players must hold a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription and be at least 18 years old as of July 17.

Registration will open on July 21 at 11 a.m. ET, with Nintendo planning to accept up to 40,000 participants, who can apply individually or in groups. Nintendo Switch Online is an excellent service for competitive gamers, providing access to online features for compatible titles, enabling thrilling multiplayer matches against both friends and adversaries.

However, specifics about the gameplay being tested remain scarce, as Nintendo has requested that participants refrain from discussing or disclosing any content from the playtest. Recent reports suggest that the playtest could revolve around an MMO game where players collaborate to develop and customize a planet, reminiscent of popular multiplayer experiences like Fortnite, Core, or Roblox. Although the October 2024 playtest was also shrouded in secrecy, some information managed to leak, hinting at some of the thrilling concepts being explored.

As anticipation builds, players are eager to discover more about this new gaming experience. Registration will certainly fill up quickly, so interested gamers should keep a close watch on the Nintendo website when sign-ups commence on July 21. With solid expectations for unique gameplay, this new title promises to stand apart from any existing offerings on the Nintendo Switch or Switch 2.
