Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, showcasing significant advancements over their predecessors. These latest foldable devices feature a sleek, slimmer design, a more durable hinge, and upgraded internal components.
However, if you decide to purchase one, it’s essential to keep the display safe, as screen replacement costs have skyrocketed. According to Sammobile, the replacement fees for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the EU are quite high.
The inner display of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 costs an astonishing €761 ($890), while the cover screen replacement sets owners back €525 ($611). Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s inner display is priced at €342 ($400), and the new 4.1-inch cover screen replacement comes to €207 ($240).
These figures represent a notable increase from the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s screen replacement cost of around $500. While costs may vary in the US, they indicate a hefty financial burden for repairs.
It’s important to note that Samsung’s standard warranty does not cover screen damage, categorizing it as accidental. To safeguard against high repair costs, users are encouraged to subscribe to Samsung Care+.
The monthly fee for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is $13, or $259 annually, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 costs $10 per month or $169 per year. Even with this coverage, there’s still a $29 deductible for cracked screens.
Equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 and a robust Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, these premium devices aim to enhance durability. Nevertheless, users should consider using a protective case and subscribing to Samsung Care+ to avoid expensive repair bills for their foldable devices.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has been designed as a generational upgrade, boasting impressive specifications, including 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4,400mAh battery. It runs on One UI 8 and features an IP48 rating.
Notably, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor and offers a remarkable 200MP pro-grade camera. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 stands out as a compact, AI-driven device with a 4.1-inch edge-to-edge FlexWindow and the slimmest design in the series.
It includes a competitive 50MP camera and the largest battery ever found in a Galaxy Z Flip, ensuring excellent performance paired with enhanced AI capabilities directly accessible from the cover screen.
