OnePlus Could Release a Highly Anticipated Compact Tablet in 2026

OnePlus is reportedly working on an unexpected new addition to its tablet lineup. Industry insider Digital Chat Station has mentioned rumors of a compact tablet set for release in 2026, featuring Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor. While specific screen dimensions haven’t been disclosed, the term “small tablet” typically suggests a size of under 10 inches in the tablet realm. The popularity of large-screen smartphones and innovative foldables, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and OnePlus Open, has diminished the demand for smaller tablets.

However, some brands, such as Lenovo, are still catering to gamers with compact models, like the 8.8-inch Legion Tab Gen 3 and Gen 4. This may be a direction OnePlus is considering for its alleged new device. The anticipated OnePlus tablet is believed to house the SM8850 Qualcomm chipset, associated with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, the successor to the widely recognized SM8750 Snapdragon 8 Elite. Devices with smaller screens tend to offer a more manageable gaming experience, and a flagship processor would provide the necessary power to handle graphically intensive games seamlessly.

Introducing a small tablet would align with OnePlus’s recent release of the OnePlus Pad 3, which boasts a significant 13.2-inch screen. While OnePlus successfully maximized the screen size within a manageable chassis, larger devices can be cumbersome. The Pad 3 also features the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, highlighting OnePlus’s commitment to delivering powerful performance in its tablets. Moreover, there are rumors of a smartphone with a 6.3-inch screen and premium specifications being launched simultaneously, though details are scarce.

It’s important to note that the tablet is currently in the prototype stage, indicating that it hasn’t received formal approval for release yet. Should it gain the company’s endorsement, an official announcement is expected in early 2026.
