Samsung Galaxy S25 FE Retains Outdated Hardware, Failing to Innovate Where It Matters Most

With the major flagship launches of the year completed, Samsung is preparing for its next key device release in 2025: the Galaxy S25 FE. This Fan Edition phone promises to capture the essential features of the Galaxy S25 at a more affordable price, though it will include some compromises.

Recent leaks have unveiled details regarding the S25 FE’s RAM and storage configuration, which may not meet everyone’s expectations. Similar to last year’s Galaxy S24 FE, the upcoming S25 FE is anticipated to come with 8GB of RAM.

This represents a reduction of 4GB compared to the Galaxy S25 series and is significantly lower than the 12GB offered by the Pixel 9 Pro lineup. The storage options are expected to remain largely the same, starting with 128GB as the base model and 256GB as the only alternative.

In an era where smartphones increasingly incorporate artificial intelligence features, 8GB of RAM on a device priced around $700 seems inadequate. This may create issues as both Samsung and Google enhance their One UI and Android with more AI capabilities.

Comparatively, even many mid-range devices today come with 12GB of RAM and a minimum of 256GB of storage. Leaker @MysteryLupin has indicated that Samsung will offer the Galaxy S25 FE in several colors, including Navy, Icyblue, Jetblack, and White.

While these names are new, the actual colors are expected to closely resemble those available with the S24 FE. The Galaxy S25 FE is expected to feature only minor refinements compared to its predecessor.

Leaked renders suggest that the design will largely echo last year’s model, and it may utilize the same Exynos 2400e chipset, potentially resulting in limited performance improvements. On a positive note, this model might support faster 45W wired charging, although wireless charging will still be capped at 15W, despite supporting Qi2.

Additionally, there are indications of an upgraded selfie camera shifting to a 12MP sensor, while the display will maintain its 6.7-inch size but feature a new panel with thinner bezels and greater peak brightness. Samsung typically unveils its Fan Edition devices in October, so we can expect the S25 FE to debut around that time.
