Leaked Prices for Google’s Pixel Watch 4 Show Some Lower Than Previous Year’s Models

Google’s upcoming hardware event is just three weeks away, and recent leaks have revealed most of the anticipated announcements. Following the disclosure of pricing for the Pixel 10 series, the spotlight now shifts to the Pixel Watch 4 series, with signs pointing towards clarity on its pricing. According to a leak from Android Headlines, the pricing for the full Pixel Watch 4 lineup appears to be favorable.

The suggested retail prices for the Wi-Fi models in both 41mm and 45mm sizes are reportedly unchanged. In an interesting development, the LTE models are expected to see a $50 reduction compared to the previous Pixel Watch 3 models. This positions Google’s smartwatches competitively against other Wear OS devices, like Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 8 series and the OnePlus Watch 3, both starting at $349.

Notably, while Google’s offerings lack an “Ultra” variant, many comparable Android smartwatches have larger LTE versions that reach mid-$400 prices. Google’s Pixel Watch 3 series had higher price points for LTE options, retailing at $449 for the 41mm and $499 for the 45mm sizes. To further entice buyers, Google is expected to bundle a six-month trial of Fitbit Premium along with an additional month of YouTube Premium free of charge.

On the charging front, Google seems to continue facing challenges. The initial Pixel Watch utilized wireless charging but had compatibility issues due to a nonstandard charging coil. Although the Pixel Watch 2 shifted to a pogo pin charger, making it compatible with existing Fitbit chargers proved challenging.

The Pixel Watch 3 saw improvements, and now rumors suggest that the charging system for the upcoming model will be significantly faster, boasting a 25% increase in speed over its predecessors. However, older chargers may not work with the new charging system, and the positioning of the pogo pins could lead to aesthetic concerns. Overall, while these changes may present some obstacles, Google is gearing up to showcase its new hardware in a live-streamed event on August 20th at 1:00 p.m.

ET, where fans can expect further clarifications and insights.
