Google has introduced a refreshing redesign of the photo view in Google Photos, aiming for a simpler, more modern, and intuitive user interface. One of the notable enhancements is the new light mode, which adjusts automatically to match your phone’s light or dark mode settings.
This update also improves accessibility to crucial information such as the date, time, and location of pictures, now conveniently placed at the top of the interface. Previously, users had to swipe up on a photo to access these details.
In efforts to streamline the app, Google has relocated several functions to a three-dot menu button situated in the top-right corner. This menu now includes options for utilizing Google Lens, casting content to compatible devices, saving images locally, deleting photos, and more.
Additionally, to add images to albums, archive them, or transfer them to the Locked Folder, users can utilize the Add to (+) button positioned at the bottom of the screen. Another three-dot menu will appear alongside photo stacks or burst photos at the bottom of the display.
This menu provides functionality for removing pictures from stacks, selecting multiple images for deletion, and changing which photo is featured as the top pick. The redesigned photo view also incorporates badges, allowing users to enhance their experience.
By tapping on these badges, one can change a picture’s category, play or pause a Motion photo, save a shared image to their library, or back it up to the cloud. Currently, this updated feature is being rolled out for iPhone and iPad users, with Google announcing that it will soon be available for Android devices.
While there is no specific timeline for the Android launch, users can expect a more organized and efficient viewing experience with the new update.
