Nintendo Switch Online Subscribers to Access Early Preview of Drag X Drive Next Month

Nintendo is offering subscribers of Switch Online the opportunity to explore Drag X Drive, its upcoming exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2, ahead of its release next month. While the game officially launches on August 14, the Drag X Drive: Global Jam event is set for August 9 and 10, allowing players a sneak peek before the full release. Drag X Drive is an unusual sports game featuring a unique control scheme. Players can engage in a modified version of basketball while navigating in wheelchair-like vehicles.

To control their movements, players will utilize the mouse controls of the Joy-Con 2 controllers. This innovative gameplay likely necessitates hands-on experience, prompting Nintendo’s decision to organize a demo event. The Global Jam demo will be available during three specific time windows across the two days. The scheduled times are as follows: from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

ET on August 9, 5 p.m. to midnight ET on the same day, and from noon to 4 p.m. ET on August 10. To participate, players must own a Switch 2 and hold any tier of a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Nintendo announced the Global Jam details on its official X account.

While the exact features remain unspecified, it’s likely that players will experience the 3v3 matches showcased during the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events prior to the system’s launch. Given the game’s distinctive control style, it’s wise for Nintendo to provide an opportunity for players to familiarize themselves with it before the paid launch. This event is limited to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, making sense due to the competitive and online-focused nature of the game. If you miss this opportunity, Drag X Drive will be available for purchase at $20 on August 14.
