DoorDash invests heavily to encourage you to dine out for your next meal experience.

DoorDash is evolving from its traditional role as a food delivery service by making two significant acquisitions: SevenRooms and Deliveroo. The company plans to acquire SevenRooms for $1.2 billion.

This move aims to assist restaurants in managing reservations, increasing in-house sales, and enhancing guest engagement. Additionally, DoorDash is looking to buy Deliveroo for approximately $3.9 billion, with cash offered for each share.

By making these acquisitions, DoorDash is expanding its services beyond merely delivering meals. The integration of SevenRooms into its platform allows customers to book restaurant tables through the app, signaling a shift towards a more comprehensive dining experience.

This strategy not only focuses on takeout but also explores opportunities for dining out. The planned acquisition of SevenRooms is strategically designed to empower restaurant owners with better tools for managing reservations and marketing their establishments effectively.

Although worth $1.2 billion in cash, this deal is currently awaiting approval from regulators. Once finalized, the acquisition is expected to enhance DoorDash’s commercial platform by providing advanced customer relationship management and guest engagement capabilities.

SevenRooms is notable for its combination of marketing and operational tools that help hospitality businesses connect with customers and boost revenue. The company has formed alliances with over 13,000 hospitality locations globally, including renowned names like Union Square Hospitality Group and Marriott.

Simultaneously, DoorDash’s purchase of Deliveroo, valued at around £2.9 billion, is anticipated to close by year-end. With these transformative strategies, DoorDash is positioning itself as a leader in the global market and reinforcing its role as a technology ally for restaurants, covering takeout, dining in, and all related services.
