The practice of carriers providing freebies is not unusual. Recently, T-Mobile attracted attention by offering a complimentary year of DashPass to its subscribers. Now, it appears Verizon is entering the fray, encouraging its customers to take advantage of free Amazon gift cards.
Today, Verizon announced significant updates to its customer support system, which now integrates artificial intelligence throughout its operations. To celebrate this enhancement, the company is distributing free Amazon gift cards with values of either $5 or $20. For Verizon customers interested in claiming this offer, the process is straightforward: simply download the new My Verizon app.
Once in the app, navigate to the “Me” section and select “myAccess.” There, you will find an option labeled “My savings & benefits.” Under “Featured Rewards,” a banner for the free Amazon gift card will appear.
Tapping on it will allow you to claim your gift card. After claiming, return to the “myAccess” page, proceed to “Claimed deals and more,” where you can find your gift card. You have the option to either redeem it directly in the app or use it on Amazon’s website.
It’s worth noting that these gift cards are available only for a limited time or until supplies are exhausted. Reports from some Reddit users suggest that the $20 cards may have already been claimed, but the $5 cards are still accessible. While $5 might seem modest, free money is always appreciated, especially with Prime Day coming up, which could allow for additional savings.
Historically, Verizon has not offered freebies on the same scale as T-Mobile’s T-Mobile Tuesdays program. However, with this new myAccess initiative, the company seems eager to retain customers amidst recent losses.
