Recent leaks have started to surface regarding Samsung’s highly anticipated trifold smartphone. This device has been the subject of speculation for some time, and new details are beginning to emerge.
Reports indicate that the larger Samsung trifold will feature a titanium frame and a Snapdragon chipset, suggesting a focus on durability and performance. While information is still sparse, this could hint at a potential release later this year.
The Samsung trifold is expected to follow in the footsteps of the Huawei Mate X2, released last year. Similar to its competitor, Samsung’s trifold may carry a hefty price tag, potentially nearing $3,000.
Although it is unlikely that Samsung will officially unveil the trifold at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9th, the company might provide a glimpse of it, similar to how they teased the Galaxy S25 Edge earlier this year. The choice of a titanium frame makes practical sense for a trifold smartphone.
Given the device’s expected bulk, Samsung would likely aim to minimize weight wherever possible. Buyers will need to consider the advantages of added screen space against the inherent size of a trifold device.
Personally, I find the idea of a trifold exciting, as it could provide functionality that is currently lacking in Samsung’s bifold offerings, like the Galaxy Z Fold series. In addition, using a Snapdragon chipset for the trifold is a logical decision.
I would be surprised if Samsung does not opt for the high-performance Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with a minimum of 16GB of RAM. A larger display, potentially around 10 inches or more, could open up opportunities for developers to create more robust applications, possibly even desktop-class software.
A 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio would further enhance productivity by maximizing screen space. Samsung’s trifold also presents significant advantages over its bifold models.
This spacious device could feasibly replace a user’s smartphone, tablet, and laptop, making the steep price more justifiable. While I struggle to see the practicality of smaller displays on other bifold phones, a well-executed trifold might be the game-changer many have been waiting for.
Thus far, it appears that Samsung is heading in the right direction with this innovative concept.
