The ability to engage in a natural conversation with Google’s AI while utilizing Gemini is certainly an impressive feature, especially with the recent introduction of extension support for various applications in Gemini Live. This expansion is ongoing, with new app integrations being added regularly. However, Google still has significant work ahead to ensure that the most popular applications are compatible with Gemini Live.
Recent APK teardown analysis has revealed that additional extension support is in the pipeline. This discovery suggests that many more applications could soon work with Gemini Live, enhancing its functionality further. Notably, there is potential for integration with major music streaming services like Spotify and YouTube Music.
A recent beta version of the Google Android app showcases a list of upcoming Gemini Live extensions. While not all of them are currently available, their presence indicates that support for these apps could be on the horizon. The inclusion of both Spotify and YouTube Music in this list is particularly encouraging, especially since both platforms have been part of Gemini’s extension support since late last year.
The findings from the Google beta app teardown point to the likelihood of more extensions being developed for Gemini Live. As these advancements continue, it is possible that Gemini and Gemini Live will eventually offer similar extension capabilities. This would relieve users from the confusion of tracking which version of Gemini supports their preferred apps with the necessary extensions.
While there is still a journey ahead, it’s clear that Google is making progress toward this goal.
