These enhancements aim to protect your data in the event of theft and increase the likelihood of recovering a lost phone. Samsung is now urging Galaxy users to activate these new security features within One UI 7 to make it more difficult for thieves to successfully steal their devices.
As Samsung gears up for its upcoming hardware event, anticipation builds around the release of new foldable phones and smartwatches. Customers who pre-register for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Flip 7 stand to gain a $50 Samsung credit along with triple rewards points. Samsung’s announcement highlights the integration of Android’s latest security features into One UI 7.
One of the key additions is Theft Protection, which includes a comprehensive suite of tools designed to safeguard your personal information, even in cases of theft. Key features within the Theft Protection toolkit are:
– **Theft Detection Lock**: This innovative feature utilizes machine learning to recognize theft-related movements, locking the screen instantly to prevent unauthorized access. – **Offline Device Lock**: The device will automatically lock if it remains disconnected from the network for an extended duration, providing protection even in offline scenarios.
– **Remote Lock**: In the unfortunate event of a theft, users can lock their devices remotely through a simple verification process, allowing for account recovery along with additional options. Furthermore, new Anti-Robbery features like Identity Check and Security Delay enhance security measures. Identity Check requires biometric authentication for sensitive changes in unfamiliar locations, while Security Delay imposes a one-hour waiting period for adjustments to security settings following a biometric data reset.
Users can enable these features through the Settings menu. The new security layers are compatible with the Galaxy S24, S23, S22, Z Fold 6, Fold 5, Flip 6, and Flip 5 running One UI 7, alongside the Galaxy S25 series, which debuted with these capabilities in February.
