T-Mobile is preparing to launch an enticing promotion that will provide new customers with one year of free satellite connectivity through Starlink. This offer is available to those who sign up for the Direct-to-Cell program and port their existing numbers to T-Mobile by July, when the Starlink beta program concludes. It’s important to note that this promotion will only be accessible through online sales. As one of the leading carriers in the United States, T-Mobile is known for offering competitive pricing and expansive coverage.
Recently, the company expanded its Starlink-powered Direct-to-Cell program to all customers in the US, including those on rival networks like AT&T and Verizon. This expansion allows users to connect to satellite services even when they are outside the traditional mobile network coverage area. According to an internal document shared with The Mobile Report, T-Mobile’s new promotion may be activated as soon as today. Unfortunately, this promotion is limited to new and eligible customers only, as existing T-Mobile subscribers will not qualify.
To take advantage of this offer, new customers must first enroll in the Direct-to-Cell program and then switch their number to T-Mobile before the July deadline. The promotion is expected to encompass all T-Mobile plans, and currently, free satellite connectivity is part of the Go5G Next plan. For customers on other plans, there is a $15 monthly charge to add Starlink connectivity. For those on AT&T and Verizon, the cost will increase to $20 per month per number once the beta period concludes.
T-Mobile aims to streamline the application process by offering this promotion exclusively through its online sales channel, directing any customer inquiries regarding the Starlink promo to the Virtual Retail team. Interestingly, customers who sign up with multiple lines can potentially enjoy a free year of satellite connectivity for each line, leading to significant savings. T-Mobile is reportedly preparing to email details about this offer to participants of the Starlink beta program later today, though it appears to be a targeted campaign open to all new customers. The convenience of T-Mobile’s Starlink connectivity is evident, as it works seamlessly with recent smartphones, eliminating the need for special hardware.
When network coverage is lost, the phone automatically connects to the Starlink satellite network, enabling direct-to-cell texting, complete with support for group messages and emoji reactions.
