Samsung Set to Launch New-Style Earbuds Alongside Upcoming Foldable Devices

Samsung is expected to launch its first open-ear earbuds at the upcoming Unpacked event in July. These earbuds, codenamed “Able,” will utilize a bone-conduction design, allowing them to rest outside the ear canal instead of being inserted, which enables users to remain aware of their surroundings. The July Unpacked event is rumored to be a significant showcase for Samsung, featuring a range of new foldable phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the more budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip FE. Additionally, there are even whispers about a unique trifolding Samsung foldable phone.

However, the introduction of the open-ear earbuds marks an exciting development, indicating that Samsung is branching out into innovative audio technology. According to the reliable leaker Digital Chat Station, Samsung’s new bone-conduction headphones will diverge from the typical in-ear designs, like the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Instead, these earbuds will focus on an open-ear structure, which means they won’t block outside sounds completely. Currently, there are few confirmed details regarding their price, colors, or any additional features.

Given the nature of open-ear designs, it is likely that Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) will not be a feature, as this technology relies on sealing the ear. Although open-ear earbuds sometimes compromise on sound quality, they are becoming increasingly popular due to their ability to provide an awareness of the ambient environment. Competitors in the market, such as Honor, Shokz, Bose, and Nothing, have already released similar products, making Samsung’s potential entry into this space particularly noteworthy. If the leaks are accurate, we could see these groundbreaking earbuds debut alongside Samsung’s new foldable devices in July.
