Replacement Power Cables for Philips Hue Secure Cameras Now Available for Purchase

Philips Hue has recently addressed a previous concern with its Secure line of cameras by introducing replacement power cables. These cables, available in black and white, are priced at $20 and measure 9.8 feet in length, although they do not come with a power adapter.

This move presents a cost-effective option for users dealing with damaged cables and allows for improved color coordination with home decor. Proprietary power cables are often viewed as a disadvantage when evaluating products.

When a device features a non-standard connector without a replacement option, it can deter potential buyers. Many consumers are hesitant to invest in a new device simply to replace a faulty wire.

If having readily available replacement cables was a consideration for you, Philips Hue’s latest offerings may change your mind about purchasing a Secure camera. The new power cables, which were announced back in January, are explicitly designed for the Hue Secure camera line and can now be directly purchased from the manufacturer’s website.

Each cable features a USB-C connector on one end and a proprietary connection on the other. While the price of $20 might seem a bit high, it is notably more economical than the alternative of buying an entirely new camera.

However, one significant drawback is that a power brick is not included with the purchase, which makes the price even less appealing. Fortunately, the cable is capable of handling up to 24W of power, meaning that a standard USB-C charging adapter should suffice if you need a way to connect your new cable.

Overall, the introduction of these replacement power cables enhances the usability of the Hue Secure cameras. With options for both black and white cables, users can easily swap out a faulty wire or choose a color that complements their living space.
