Spotify has launched a new playlist called Concerts Near You, designed to help users discover artists touring in their vicinity. This innovative feature not only showcases tracks from popular artists but also includes direct links to third-party platforms for booking concert tickets in advance. The playlist is personalized to suit your preferences, pulling from the artists you follow and your designated location within the app.
As one of the leading music streaming services on Android, alongside YouTube Music and Apple Music, Spotify has made strides in enhancing its users’ connection to their favorite artists. Last year’s Wrapped campaign featured personalized messages from artists to their top listeners, and now, this new playlist further emphasizes accessibility to live performances. Attending a concert can be a unique experience, often proving challenging to keep track of when your favorite artists are performing nearby.
While Spotify doesn’t sell concert tickets directly, the Concerts Near You playlist is a great solution. It automatically curates tracks from artists scheduled to perform in your area, allowing you to stay informed about upcoming shows. Additionally, by clicking on a track, you can find information about show dates and venues, enabling you to plan ahead efficiently.
The playlist also has shareable links, making it easy to invite friends to join you at the concert without needing to convey all the event details separately. In a blog post, Spotify’s VP and Global Head of Music Product, Charlie Hellman, emphasized the importance of this feature, stating that it helps fans stay updated on concerts in their area. In my experience, I found an upcoming Alan Walker concert with tickets still available, illustrating the playlist’s potential to keep you in the loop on local events.
