Google App Develops New Shortcut for Enhanced AI Mode Functionality

Google has recently expanded the availability of its AI Mode, which is now accessible to a broader audience beyond just premium subscribers. This new feature utilizes Gemini 2.0 to deliver search results that balance traditional search with Google’s AI-enhanced Overviews. Previously limited to Google One AI Premium users, AI Mode is now open to everyone. Currently, users who wish to start a new query in AI Mode must navigate back to the home screen of the Google app.

However, reports from Android Authority suggest that an upcoming update may introduce a button that allows users to initiate a new AI conversation more conveniently, without returning to the home screen. This potential enhancement aims to streamline the user experience for AI Mode interactions. In the latest beta version of the Google app (16.11.32.sa.arm64), an APK teardown has revealed promising changes that could simplify how users interact with AI Mode. A new icon located in the top left corner of the interface may soon enable users to start a new AI Mode search with just a tap.

Additionally, a new history button may be added, providing quick access to previous AI Mode queries. While these features are not yet publicly available, the ability for developers to access and test these functionalities indicates that their release could be imminent. For those who enjoy using AI Mode, it’s worth keeping an eye out for these forthcoming updates that could enhance the overall search experience.
