The latest update from Google addresses several issues for the Pixel 6 series, notably resolving a display flickering problem experienced when using the camera. Android 16 Beta 3.2 also aims to enhance your Pixel’s runtime performance by fixing a bug that led to excessive battery drain while devices were idle.
This marks Google’s second minor beta release targeted at reducing underlying power consumption issues. The changes outlined in Android 16 Beta 3.2 are as follows:
– Resolved an issue leading to significant battery drain even when the device was not in use.
– Fixed a problem for Pixel 6 and 6 Pro devices that sometimes caused screen flickering during photo or video capture. – Addressed various other issues impacting system stability and usability.
Eligible devices participating in the Android Beta for Pixel program will receive an over-the-air (OTA) update to Beta 3.2. Although these glitches may seem minor, Google’s commitment to addressing them puts the operating system one step closer to its public release.
The stable version of this OS iteration is expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2025, with Google confirming a targeted launch date of June 2025. For users enrolled in the public beta program, the Android 16 beta BP22.250221.015 build is currently being rolled out for compatible Pixel devices.
As this update is relatively minor, the OTA download size ranges from 34MB to 42MB, depending on the device. Your Pixel will typically download and install the update automatically in the background.
However, if you prefer immediate access, you can manually check for updates by navigating to Settings, then System, followed by Software updates, and finally tapping the “Check for updates” button.
