Google Keep is set to receive a visual update incorporating Material You elements, building on a previous redesign that was implemented last November. This update will feature a revamped bottom toolbar with larger icons set within rounded bubbles, enhanced image displays with rounded corners and margins, and a repositioning of icons in the floating action button (FAB) options. The initial redesign introduced a new in-app FAB, which streamlined access to various note-taking functions all in one place. This consolidation not only simplified the user interface by removing the previous bottom bar but also allowed notes to extend fully to the bottom of the device’s screen, giving the app a fresher, modern look.
Recent observations indicate that Google is working on further enhancements to the Keep app, aiming to infuse it with even more modern design elements. These tweaks were first reported by Android Authority in the latest Google Keep build, which has not yet been made available to users. Among the noticeable changes are modifications to the bottom toolbar, where icons for features like attachments, background colors, and text formatting have been made larger and now appear within rounded bubbles that adapt to the device’s theme. Conversely, icons for text formatting options like H1, H2, and regular text have been reduced in size.
Additionally, there are planned adjustments to how images are displayed within notes. Instead of occupying the full screen width, upcoming updates will feature images with rounded corners and a margin, which should enhance the visual appeal of notes. Lastly, the FAB options are also seeing minor changes, with associated icons for features like Audio, Image, Drawing, List, and Text moving from the right of the text to the left, accompanied by darker icons and text. These enhancements are still in development and have not been rolled out for user testing yet.
