A recent bug in Google Photos prevented users from saving edits made with the Magic Editor feature. Fortunately, Google has addressed this issue, enabling users to save their AI-enhanced images once again.
Google Photos provides all users with ten free saves using Magic Editor each month, making it a popular choice for cloud-based media management. Over the years, Google Photos has continually enhanced its platform, incorporating powerful AI features like Magic Eraser and Magic Editor.
Users are required to manually save edited images as copies after making changes. However, the bug in question resulted in the ‘Save Copy’ button being unavailable, preventing users from preserving any modifications made with the Magic Editor.
This issue had persisted for a couple of months but had gone largely unnoticed by the media until recently. Google has acknowledged the bug and confirmed that it is implementing a fix.
A representative from the Google Photos team posted on the support forums, expressing gratitude for user feedback and announcing that the issue has been resolved. Users are now encouraged to try saving their edited photos again, as the ‘Save Copy’ button should be functioning properly.
For those who have been unable to save their Magic Editor edits, it’s worth checking again. While personal experiences with the bug varied, many users can now confirm that the functionality has returned to normal.
Additionally, users interested in unlimited saves and extra features can subscribe to the Google One Premium plan, which costs $10 per month. While random bugs are commonplace in Google’s ecosystem, it highlights a need for improved features, such as tracking the remaining free Magic Editor edits each month.
Implementing this would allow users to make better use of their monthly quota.
