Pixel’s Weather Map Returns Online After Temporary Outage

The interactive weather map tile has made a comeback in the Google Pixel Weather app after it was missing for a while. This restoration appears to be a server-side fix since users with the same app version (1.0.20250127.729684887) are experiencing the weather map’s return without needing an app update. With the weather map back, users might notice some changes in the widget layout.

The widget’s position may have shifted, which could disrupt any custom arrangements that users had previously set up. As a result, you might need to manually reposition the weather map within your widget order. The return of the weather map occurs just days after reports surfaced about its absence.

While weather maps are not crucial to the weather app experience, they are a valuable feature. Released with the Pixel 9 last year, these radar-style maps replaced the original weather app and provide detailed time-based precipitation forecasts. Despite being on the same app version, it seems Google managed the issue via a server-side update, which confirms that the disappearance was likely unintentional, possibly due to a server mishap.

However, one downside users might face is adjusting their widget order. After the weather map’s reappearance, it may have jumbled the existing layout, so you may need to tap and drag the weather maps back to their desired positions. As of now, Google has not provided any official statement regarding the brief outage.

Nonetheless, it’s a relief that the interactive maps were not absent for long. Have you noticed the weather maps in your app again? Share your thoughts in the comments!
