Exciting Gemini Live Feature Now Accessible on Your Older Pixel Device!

Google has begun the rollout of the ‘Talk Live about this’ feature in Google Gemini for Pixel 6 and newer devices, including for users without a subscription. This innovative tool allows users to receive immediate feedback on their files, images, and YouTube videos through Gemini Live. Initially, the feature was exclusive to high-end devices like the Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 when it was introduced back in January.

The ‘Talk Live about this’ chip was first unveiled in January for images, files, and YouTube videos, making its debut a few weeks later on the Samsung Galaxy S25. It also made its way to the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 9, but that exclusivity was short-lived. With the March 2025 Feature Drop, the feature became accessible to Pixel 6 and newer models.

Although the rollout has been gradual, users are now experiencing the Talk Live about this feature on their devices. Reports indicate that even those using Gemini for free can utilize it. Activating the ‘Talk Live about this’ feature is straightforward, with several methods available.

Users can click the ‘+’ button in the Gemini interface to upload various compatible file types, such as TXT, DOC, DOCX, PDF, RTF, and HWP. Similarly, images can be uploaded from the camera or gallery through the same method. For PDFs, users can enable the Talk Live about PDF chip directly while viewing a PDF from apps like Files by Google and Samsung Notes.

To trigger the Talk Live about video chip, users need only to activate Gemini on a YouTube video page. This feature, available for videos up to two hours long, includes enhancements such as updated Gemini Live buttons that are now shorter and pill-shaped, marking a visual shift from the previous rounded design.
