Google’s Pixel Weather app has recently introduced a pollen tracking feature for users in the United States. This server-side update is gradually being rolled out to selected Pixel users nationwide, providing valuable information for those who suffer from allergies. The feature displays color-coded pollen levels and forecasts specifically for grass, tree, and weed pollen, allowing users to prepare accordingly for those challenging allergy days. Initially launched in various European countries such as France, Germany, Italy, and the UK last October, the pollen forecast was eagerly anticipated in the US.
Although there was uncertainty regarding its release date, Google has now begun its rollout to US users. Reports indicate that the pollen tracker is becoming visible through the latest update of the Pixel Weather app, even if Google’s official support page has yet to confirm its presence in the US. As the feature continues to make its way to users, it’s important to note that not everyone may have access to the pollen card at this time. Some Pixel users have not yet seen the feature display on their devices.
The pollen tracking feature appears as a prominent, pill-shaped card located at the bottom of the main city weather screen within the Pixel Weather app. Similar to other forecast cards, the Pollen card stretches from edge to edge across the screen. For users in the US, this card provides easily interpretable, color-coded levels for various types of pollen, rated from zero to four. This new addition is movable, allowing users to position it wherever they prefer on the screen for quick access.
Tapping on the pollen card reveals a three to five-day pollen forecast for each type, along with notes detailing which specific pollen is expected to be most problematic on any given day. This feature enhances the utility of the Pixel Weather app, catering specifically to individuals needing timely allergy updates.
