Google Gemini is currently undergoing an upgrade, particularly in its web interface, which now allows some users to upload multiple images in a single prompt. Although this feature shows promise for educational and creative uses, it is still in the process of being rolled out and is not yet widely accessible. Reports from users on Reddit indicate that a select few can utilize this functionality.
One user, Gaiden206, shared a screenshot demonstrating their success in combining three different characters into one image. This user mentioned that they are an Advanced subscriber and used the 2.0 Flash model for this image combination. However, many other users have expressed frustration, stating that they are still restricted to uploading just one image at a time, which aligns with the experiences of some Advanced subscribers who have not yet observed this feature in the web or mobile app.
The rollout appears to be staged, and while we have known about Gemini’s plans to implement multi-image uploads since March, the practical applications are becoming more evident. For instance, uploading multiple images from different angles can enhance the system’s accuracy in recognizing plant species. This feature also opens up creative possibilities for users eager to produce unique AI-generated images.
For those with Advanced subscriptions, it is advisable to keep an eye out for this new capability in the near future. However, it remains uncertain whether this multi-image upload feature will be available to free users or if it will be exclusive to subscribers.
